The purpose of this blog to to find like minded people for mutual help support and encouragement in losing weight, or more specifically in reducing body fat.

I’ll be posting a few times a week with updates on my progress and with any ideas or thoughts I have had relating to body composition management (losing fat).

I hope you will join in with your own ideas and opinions, especially if they are different to mine so we can all learn and encourage each other in the battle against flab.

About me

  1. I’m fat
  2. I don’t want to stay fat
  3. I want to be fit enough to keep up with my kids
  4. I’m 40 with a very (very very) sedentary job (computer programmer).
  5. For the next few months I will focus on reducing my body fat and increasing my fitness. This blog is to document that and discuss it, and hopefully help each other.
  6. I’m based in the north of England
  7. I’m pretty blunt and to the point

  5. My hub & I are trying to lose weight. It started 2 weeks ago. It’s been ok but sometimes really hard to stay away from favorties food. I hope you do well, too! Especially, when you have kids it must be hard to keep up working out.
    My favorite tip not to eat sweets is thinking about skinny sexy celebrities! (i don’t know if it works with you though… )

    Just wanted to firstly say good luck.
    This blog has helped me alot.
    Its has increased my motivation.
    I am 15 and I want to look good for when I am 16.
    Being a boy it is a lil strange talking about what I eat and what I want to weigh when I am 16. People thing girls talk about their bodies. My school is full of narrow minded people. I am 186 pounds and have been on this diet for just a month. I was 196 then. I want to weigh maybe 120 pounds. so that means losing 66 pounds. Anyway thanx again.     I wish you every success in your campaign for better health. I’m in my mid-40’s and while I had a very sedentary job (researcher), I was pretty active. However, I had a major problem with overabsorption – as well as over-eating on occasion – and could not get my weight under control with diet and exercise alone.

    A little over a year ago, I had a surgical procedure called a duodenal switch. It’s a fairly radical surgery, but I had some serious health challenges ahead of me. In addition to being hypertensive, both of my fairly normal weight parents are diabetic and my mother is also an overabsorber. I’ve been pleased with the results: I’ve lost nearly 170 lbs from my highest weight, 3 mos prior to surgery. More info about this surgery is available at http://www.duodenalswitch.com

    One thing I’ve noticed is that if I do my exercise, esp. cardio, prior to breakfast, I tend to burn more fat. Usually, I don’t do this, as I’ve been involved in an exercise group for 6 years that meets at 8 pm and this suits my schedule better.

    But in the interest of fat-burning, I thought I’d mention it, along with the surgery. I never encourage surgery as a first step – rather a court of last appeal.

    I have just stumbled onto your weblog, i was looking to convert my own weight of 16st 1lb into kg as i have just bought myself a new pedometer .
    I am 49 and i live with my partner who doesn’t have a weight problem .
    i was diagnosed with an under active thyroid 3 years ago and have to take levothyroxine everyday.
    i am 5ft 3ins tall and hate being this heavy when i was younger 20,s 30,s i was always slim i would like to be at least 10st.
    I too lead a sedentary life and i am finding losing the weight a hard slog.
    walking is the only thing i enjoy and it doesn’t cost anything
    I went on a low carb diet and lost almost 3st but put on 1st because i got bored [i love chocolate]
    my diet at the moment is a 3 egg and spring onion omelette for breakfast and i munch on raw carrots , celery, and sweet peppers with a dip for tea .
    good luck with your diet if you have any tips for me don’t hesitate to let me know.
